Healthy “Nutella”

Ever since I was a kid my ultimate dream of a dessert/all time comfort food is chocolate hazelnut spread. I used to devour a whole jar of Nutella for myself! Eventually, I realised it was basically nothing but refined sugar and palm oil with soy lecithin and empty calories with no nutrition at all. And so I just quit buying it and made my own instead, which I must say is even better than your traditional chocolate spread!

Today is a great day because I have a Healthy Chocolate Hazelnut “Nutella” Spread recipe for you and your friends to enjoy.

2 cups Hazelnuts

1/4 cup almond milk

1/2 cup maple syrup

Pinch of salt

2-3 tbsp of Cacao Powder


Begin by soaking your hazelnuts for about 4-6 hours. You would normally get a better result by soaking them overnight to get an even more smooth consistency, so if you have spare time on your hands, do that instead.

After doing so, place your hazelnuts in a food processor and blend for about 5-10 minutes until you are left with fine, flour-like hazelnuts. Then pour in your almond milk and blend for another 5 minutes. This will result in a creamy, smooth mix that you will then add in your maple syrup, salt and cacao powder to. Blend for 2 minutes and pour into a jar to serve!
