Switch out your morning oatmeal with this yummy porridge! It’s a filling and protein-rich breakfast to indulge into at anytime of the year. So yummy, super comforting and warm in the winter and can be served chilled in the summer, too.
Cardamom is one of my favourite spices to use, especially in tea so experimenting with it and including it in my porridge has to be the best idea! It adds so much flavour to the porridge especially that cooked oats taste bland if you don’t mix in the right ingredients.
Ingredients:
2/3 of a cup of oats
2/3 of a cup of boiling water
1/3 of a cup of hemp/coconut/almond milk
Cardamom seeds, of 3 pods
2 tsp cinnamon
Handful of golden sultanas
1/4 apple, sliced
1-2 tsp raw honey
Almonds (optional)
Method:
Place the oats in a saucepan with the boiling water, milk, cardamom, and cinnamon. Stir it together and then let it sit with the lid of the pan on for 5-10 minutes.
Once the oats have soaked, pour into a bowl. Then top with sultanas, more cardamom, sliced apple and a drizzle of honey ( or other sweetener).
