This hot chocolate is a delicious dairy-free alternative to the popular powdered mixes we used as kids. It calls for only 4 ingredients and takes just about 5 minutes to prepare.
What I love about making my own homemade hot chocolate is that you can customize the chocolate flavour exactly to your liking. Want a dark chocolate drink? Add more cacao powder or use less sweetener.
I love using hemp milk in this recipe from Good Hemp as it‘s neutral flavour blends seamlessly with the rich cacao powder. This is a great alternative to almond milk for those of you who might have a nut allergy or just want to try something new and equally as delicious!
1 serving
Ingredients:
1 cup hemp milk
1 tbsp of cacao powder
1 tbsp maple syrup
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
Method:
Combine all the ingredients into a saucepan over high heat, using a whisk to break up any clumps. Keep stirring until smooth and piping hot, then pour into a mug and serve warm.
Top with dairy-free whipped cream and shaved chocolate, if desired! Enjoy!
